Niagara Falls A natural Wonder of our World

Sunday, October 29, 2023

Niagara Falls is one of the reasons why we came back to Buffalo. Truly a beautiful place that will leave you breathless. And there are lots to do. If you are visiting as family group, there's definitely something for you and the kiddos to do beyond Niagara Falls nearby. All of the power of the water flowing and imagining people have gone over the US side in a barrel and survived. Spectacular that you deserve to walk around and take so many selfies. There's also the boat ride and zip line too. Such a must see in your bucket list of this grand majestic freak of nature to marvel upon.

The Falls are truly a sight to behold for an hour or even just a few minutes.

Places we Visit in Western New York for Holidays

Monday, January 7, 2019
We stopped at the New York State Welcome Center at the Grand Island  on the way from Scranton, PA  to Buffalo. To get to this WNY Welcome Center, you have to use the Whitehaven Road exit on the 190. What awaits you is a HUGE " I Love NY" sign and a building that is part museum and part snack bar. Inside there is a lot of NY history on the walls plus a huge sitting area and many table to eat at. There is a Taste of NY snack shop with all kinds of "goodies" from Western NY for sale.  Food is a little pricey but not unexpected. There is a huge amount of parking both for cars and  trucks plus a number of electric charging stations.

We have been gone for nearly seven years but I guess we still NY!

Visit the Niagara Falls in the Winter

Friday, December 28, 2018
We have been gone to Buffalo, NY for nearly seven years.  Finally we get to see Niagara Falls again  on the US side. We had a bit of time before we headed back to East TN, so we decided to stop here. We used to live nearby but I am still captivated every time I visit the falls and always enjoy the experience!

Niagara Falls is a beautiful natural wonder that everyone should come see in their lifetime to appreciate the awesomeness of mother nature.  We came here on Christmas time 2018  it was snowy that day there were no crowds and  it is freezing but Niagara Falls is well worth stopping by.

I used to dread the winter, but at this moment I fully embrace the change of season.  I love taking this time to have fun, find peace and inspiration in the rebirth after the darkest and longest night of the year. When nature has completely shed everything and when animals go into hibernation.

Everyone loves Marineland

Monday, November 5, 2012
Visiting Marineland is a full day event, and I would suggest that you plan to go in the morning when it opens. Getting to the park early ensures a closer parking spot and because parking is free, you can imagine how huge their lot is. You can walk for 10 minutes just to get in the park on a busy day. Marineland is quite expensive but worth it! Especially if you like marine animals.

Niagara Falls Escapades

Monday, June 11, 2012
My husband was born and raised from Buffalo, the first time he brings me to Niagara Falls I was blown away. It's really a great view! I love watching the thunderous water cascade over the cliffs and feeling the mist on my face. On my first trip last 2007 we ride on a boat at the Maid of the Mist, which gives you an up close and personal view of the falls. You don't have to pay to see the falls. It is such a sight to see. I've visited the Niagara Falls many times we truly enjoy it and make it a habit of visiting every year. Spring, summer, fall or winter there is something to see. Leaving Buffalo is really hard but it’s been a good experience for us. And we are looking forward to start a new travel memories down South.

Niagara Falls the world’s most famous falls draw starry-eyed honeymooners and tourists to its panoramic view. The best view on the American side is from Goat Island; here visitors witness up close the sheer power of million gallons of water falling each minute. The Canadian side offers a much greater diversity of activities. The Clifton Hill area abounds with attractions for everyone. Don’t forget to bring your passport when you crossed the US-Canada border and have your pocket ready because its more expensive in Canadian side. Last June 15, 2012 a man bravely walk in a tightrope across the Niagara Falls. Another daredevil history of this majestic waterfall. I hope you don’t miss that stunt!

Niagara Falls Light at Night

Monday, January 2, 2012
I’ve had my new Canon Rebel T3 as my Christmas present, and I’ve had some opportunities to test it out. However I haven’t had as much time as I wanted due to the cold weather , but with Spring upon us, those opportunities will surely grow. As a new Digital SLR owner, I am still learning proper terminology and techniques. This blog is for me to share experiences, as well as learn from my readers.
My husband and I didn’t have work today, so he decided to take me to Winter Festival of Lights across the Canada border.   It was a beautiful night of winter. I took my Canon Rebel T3  along to get some more experience using it, hoping to get some decent shots. To clarify the conditions while I was taking these photos, it was quite dark and wet. My camera was set at Aperture Priority, and the entire time I was trying to find the proper Shutter Speed and ISO. My first few shoots I was very disappointed. I couldn't make it perfect or set it in right camera settings.

To start out, I’ve primarily kept the camera on NIGHT mode, just to get a feel of the camera and its abilities. One of the first differences I’ve noticed from the digital point-and-shoot models I’ve owned is “depth of field”. With my old cameras, when a picture was taken, everything in the photo was generally in focus. With my T3, that isn’t necessarily the case. Depending on the aperture setting, the entire photo may be crisp and clear, or perhaps just one object while everything else is blurry. At times, the camera has focused on the wrong object, causing a poor photograph.

Below is an example of a few of the first photos I’ve taken with my new camera. Comments and tips are appreciated.

Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights

Tuesday, March 22, 2011
During the Winter Festival of Lights, Niagara Falls is transformed into a winter wonderland of shimmering lights. A beautifully decorated five-kilometre route stretching from Dufferin Islands along the Niagara Parkway, adjacent to Niagara Falls, past the Rainbow Bridge, to Whirlpool Bridge is known as the Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland.  It includes nearly two million lights and over 100 lighting displays, including:
Dufferin Islands Displays
You'll be awed by the numerous displays of Canadian wildlife both modern and prehistoric that include moose and buffalo, howling wolves, charging rams, bears, mischievous beavers, deer, and dinosaurs that roamed the land millions of years ago. These are complemented by over 3,000 LED tree light sets that create a mystical aura of illumination. It truly is a wonderful visual experience.
