Forks of the River Sunflower Fields

Sunflower Farm is the place I dream of as a child.  Since my parent's are here right now for vacation its even more fun to go. The sunflower field is very photogenic and picturesque, the whole place is simply amazing and really worth going!

The lovely bright yellow Sunflowers are the major attractions of Forks of the River WMA  of Knoxville,TN. With 70 acres of sunflowers standing over 6 feet tall, it is obvious why the fields attract so many visitors.  It is a sheer joy to see the blooming fields with big sunflowers.

It's a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by the sunflowers - watching them dance when the wind blows!

A day trip to the Sunflower fields

After the Knoxville News Sentinel announcement this fields of bright yellow sunflowers have become one of the major tourist attractions.  Hundreds of folks visit the East Tennessee to see the sunflowers display.  This year, the sunflowers are planted in a new location. Over 400 acres of land managed by TWRA at Forks Of The River Wildlife Management area, located on McClure Lane south of Ijams Nature Center, Knoxville TN. It is free to the public.

The first few weeks of July you'll find the fields carpeted with towering, bright yellow sunflowers. It's simply spectacular! There are many fields along the way, we stopped and took photos at some fields.

Visit Botanical Gardens Buffalo

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens opened in 1900 in the 150-acre South Park Buffalo, New York. A little oasis in the city, Buffalo Botanical Gardens is definitely a place to visit during the spring as all the flowers are blooming.  Beautifully landscaped and maintained, these grounds certainly make me miss living outside of New York and realizing the beauty that nature has to offer. These gardens feature exotic flowers and plants from around the world. Tri-domed glass conservatory building features 13 greenhouses; and the Victorian-style gardens of plants. It's hard for them to get too specialized, but they have a nice assortment of most types of plants you'd want to see.  My favorites are the cacti and succulents and carnivorous plants.

 

Feeling overwhelmed from the city and need a break for a few hours? Go to the Buffalo Botanical Gardens. Explore these beautiful gardens on a nice spring day, when it's not too hot and not too cold and all the flowers are in full bloom.  I really don't think I've ever seen spring beauty like I saw it there.  I have some amazing pictures and a new found appreciation for the season.

The Lilac Festival

The Lilac Festival at Highland Park is a great way to celebrate after such a long winter here in Rochester, NY. Every spring approximately 500 types of lilacs come into bloom. While the lilacs are the main attraction there are many other beautiful flowers to see such as cherry blossoms, tulips, magnolias and daffodils.
