Visiting Steamtown National Historic Site

Saturday, February 10, 2024
We were amazed to see how detailed this train museum is. It includes a working roundhouse, refurbished cars and engines, and knowledgeable rangers. Across the way is a trolley museum. We didn't come on a train ride day unfortunately but the machine shop guided tour and self guided yard tour took up a lot of our time. So much to see if you are a fan of railroad history. There was no entrance fee which is a plus.

The Steamtown National Historic Site,  is located in downtown Scranton, PA. Here you can learn the history of the steam engine, see the giant locomotives that helped expand our nation, hear the sensational true stories of those that rode, worked for, and built these beautiful machines.

Over the last year, we have seen the world come to a standstill. People working from home. People having to cancel their vacations, and businesses communicating over video conferences instead of in person. No one expected the world to look like this. Thankfully, we are starting to get back to life before covid-19, and normal activities are now starting to resume, including that of business travel. Whilst it was considerably easy to hop on a plane to fly your destination, some people may be skeptical of interacting with hundreds of people so soon. Due to this, many are now starting to look at chartering private jets, with companies like Jettly, to complete any business tasks they have. So, now that business travel is starting to get underway again, how is this a safer mode of transportation than that of commercial aircraft? Well, we’re about to find out.

Combining Business and Beach

Thursday, February 21, 2019
When you love the thrill and excitement that comes with travel but need to keep working is it even possible to run a business across time zones, across cultures and on the go? You need to work to finance your adventures but the idea of being tied to an office job in one place is the last thing you’d want to do. We take a look at how you can get up and go with your business with just a few tips and tricks and a little dedication.

Practice Makes Perfect
There’s simply no guarantee that you’re going to get it right straight away. Things like figuring out different time zones and knowing when you really need to be available to your customers and when you can factor in some down time are not going to be easy to pinpoint and will naturally vary from country to country.

You will need to figure out much of your day-to-day working strategy as you go, and this will require some patience. There are of course also some practical considerations about the country you’re in that will determine your success.

While the ideal image of working on a beach while sipping on some fresh juice is appealing, you’re going to at least need to be able to access your emails and have some kind of internet access. This is even more pressing if your business offers online or virtual services or sells physical products. It makes sense to check these considerations out before you set out from your hotel or you might find yourself darting in and out of internet cafes and risking the security of your platform.

Monday, February 18, 2019

Jamaica is the land of wood and water and an inspirational island nation just a stone’s throw from many US locations.

But spending two weeks within the walls of a resort won’t let you experience the authentic, awesome vibes of Jamdown.

So if you want a passport to paradise, these 10 Jamaican travel tips offer an immersive adventure.

1. Mosquito protection
Mosquitos can be problematic in Jamaica and occasionally carry nasty viruses like Dengue, so protect yourself and your family by buying Avon Skin So Soft bug spray — it’s very effective.

2. Sunscreen
Jamaica’s hot and humid, so sunscreen is mandatory — make sure you carry a rated product like Coola Classic sunscreen lotion SPF 50 or Olay Sun facial sunscreen SPF 35+.

Leaving the Beaten Track in Style and Comfort

Monday, January 14, 2019

Those of us old folks who went on holiday with our families in a caravan when we were kids, might not have thoroughly enjoyed the sparsity of creature comforts, though the chances are that we still have very vivid recollections of that vacation to this very day. Going on holiday with a caravan provided the opportunity to get away from the hotels and city centers, instead getting much closer to nature and enjoying multiple locations. Caravan parks often used to be little more than an open field, with some very basic amenities, so roughing it a little was pretty much to be expected. Those who take a caravan vacation today have all of the benefits the holiday has always provided, but the level of comfort has improved dramatically.
