Visit The Newspaper Rock

Friday, October 2, 2015

📌 Amazing ancient rock engravings.

I'm always fascinated to wood carved and ice sculptures, but seeing a stone art was neat! Just imagine standing in the location where people long ago carved those messages in the stone. Newspaper Rock is the earliest form of communication. It's amazing to see in person what's been around for a long time. The writings are all still very visible they are great representative drawings of ancient writings..

Location: 14.5 Miles North of South Entrance (Rainbow Forest Museum), Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona

More than 650 images adorn the boulders - one of the largest concentrations of petroglyphs in the park. Below rock images are about 650 to 2,000 years old. People have live in those times have carved these images on stones. To this days these images are visible and is evidence that humans lived there once.

Visit Petrified Forest National Park

Thursday, September 4, 2014
We are huge lover of nature and we especially love National Parks. The Petrified Forest National Park is a sight to behold. It really isn't so much a forest of trees, but more a forest of tree fossils.  This Park contains one of the world's largest and most colorful concentrations of petrified wood,  badlands of the Painted Desert, historic structures, archeological sites, and displays of 225 million year old fossils, this is a surprising land of scenic wonders and fascinating science. We drove and  spent about 3 hours beholding nature's wonders.  We stopped frequently to take photos of the Native American rock art.  There was a sense of spiritual peacefulness in the absence of noise.  Be sure not to pick up petrified wood as it's bad luck according to the legend. Anyone who takes wood from the park will be cursed.  It's also illegal. This is a must to see.  Remember, this is a desert and it can be dry so bring fluids with you.

Visit Blue Mesa Road Vista

Thursday, July 17, 2014
Let your jaw drop at the Petrified Forest National Park.  Adjacent to the Painted Desert - this is Arizona scenery at its finest. In my opinion, it is breath-taking as the Grand Canyon, and a little less crowded. There are a lot of different stations, but there are three that are especially awesome: (1) the Blue Mesa Trail, (2) the Newspaper Rock and (3) the Painted Desert.

On this post I will share my photos from Blue Mesa Road. It is a 15 minute loop road with multiple stopping points for a scenic view. The Blue Mesa Road, which you'll just drive by as you pass through the park, you can pull off to look at them more if you want.  They are mounds of beautifully layered colored rock. We loved this adventure! Driving through the park was quite convenient and everything was so beautiful.

The Tepees : Commonly seen rock formations alongside the main road.

Visit The Painted Desert Arizona

Friday, June 13, 2014
We decided to go visit here on our recent  random road trip in Arizona. The Painted Desert provides a striking landscape that is both colorful and peaceful. It took millions upon millions of years for nature to create this natural canvas of unimaginable design. The park is very easy to find, right off  Highway 40W. I thought we had seen every kind of rock formation and color of rock until we saw the Painted Desert. The sun was out and the colors just stood out more. This is not an area you want to hurry through. There are many pull offs where you can get out of your car and marvel at what you are looking at. You can see forever into the distance, and the peacefulness and quiet is amazing. Great place to visit.  Month of May is a good time to visit because there are few tourists and you can get through the park easily.

This desert is famous for its striking bands of colors.
