Driving Up Pikes Peak Mountain - US Road Trip

Tuesday, March 17, 2020
If you are in the Denver or Colorado Springs area, Pikes Peak is a must see. The view is breathtaking. If you drive to the top beware of the Highwinds and do not ride your brakes coming down the peak, you can overheat your breaks. It's a once in a lifetime view and experience.

Colorado has 54 mountains over 14,000 feet. One of them is in city of Colorado Springs Pikes Peak.  Pikes Peak stands at 14,110 feet high. It's a great place to visit with friends, family, and children, if you are not from a high altitude area, the change in altitude is very noticeable. Dress warm if you visit.

Words cannot explain the beauty and majesty of this place. I'm just in love with all of it from the snow cap to the mountain view.

Visiting Garden of the Gods Colorado Springs

Sunday, August 10, 2014
Talk about free fun and a beautiful afternoon with Mother Nature. This is a must-visit spot while in Colorado Springs. The Garden of the Gods is an incredible wonder that is one of Colorado's finest jewels. I have seen plenty of red rocks before. But I couldn't have been more wrong, this place is amazing! The stunning red rocks that just up toward the sky never fails to leave me in awe. There are so many cool things about this park. A sight I'll never forget. Thank you to my hardworking husband for bringing me along to this unforgettable trip!

If visiting Colorado Springs for the first time, I highly recommend putting Garden of the Gods on your must-see list. The area is quite breathtaking both literally and figuratively, and you will certainly get very good pictures in seeing some of the very best of what nature has to offer.

Visiting Pikes Peak National Forest

Saturday, June 7, 2014
This is everyone's Colorado bucket list destination for sure. One of the most breathtaking experiences we've ever had. This drive is not for the faint of heart. My husband drove and I'm very proud of him after we made it to mile 16 turnout to be the Devil's Playground up all those narrow and windy turns. This is a good place to stop and enjoy the 3 mile ride to the top.

The 360' view from the top was breathtaking. I only wish there were signs to let tourist know what we were looking at in the distance, you know like landmarks and such. I did feel the affects of the high altitude, but I made sure I stay hydrated. The Summit wasn't my favorite part of the experience. It was frigid cold up there come prepared. I wasn't prepared, no winter coat, gloves or scarf. I literally jump out in the car, posed a minute for a photo, took 15 minutes to enjoy the view and turned back around and ran full force back to the car.

Outstanding views of Colorado Mountains.

Visits Crystal Creek Reservoir

Friday, May 30, 2014
This beautiful view is one of  my favorite stop over going to Pikes Peak. There is something in here that I feel so close to nature. I've never seen such a place like this that has mountain view with snow on top, Pine Trees, body of water and clay soil. All together in one place! I'm in total awe and grateful for being able to experience something so magical, yeah.... I know it sounds cheesy, but that's what it feels like!

Crystal Creek Reservoir is located at northwest side of Pikes Peak in Teller County, Colorado. The reservoir and surrounding Pike National Forest land offers opportunities for boating, fishing, camping, and hunting, among other activities and can be accessed from the Pikes Peak Highway.

Definitely take time to stop at the Crystal Reservoir. And keep your eyes peeled.
