Visiting Yellowstone National Park

Wednesday, June 9, 2021

Everyone has to go to Yellowstone Nations Park. It is the world's first national park and one of the largest it is spread throughout 3 states Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.  Luckily you will always be in the mountain time zone, so really does it matter whether you are in Montana, Idaho, or Wyoming?  Just know that you are in a very special place.  So close to so much geothermal activity and incredible nature.   Out of all the national parks we've visited, Yellowstone has the most wildlife and diverse terrain, there is so much to do here. Conveniently enough, there is loop road you can follow to visit all of Yellowstone's main attractions.

We got to go in early October which is the off season. There were still a fair amount of people there. But I believe covid had everyone wanting to go outside. Never an issue finding parking, pulling over or seeing any of the animals. Everyone that was visiting was respectful to the animals and the other visitors allowing room for everyone to enjoy the park.

The pictures do not do it any justice, the colors of this hot spring are so vivid in person.

Hands down, this is one of the most unique things you will ever see in your life. There’s more than one colorful bubbling spring on the trail around here and they’re all pretty big.

The Yellowstone sulfur pools were also a highlight of this National park!

The one icon you must see. You can't really say you went to Yellowstone without visiting Old Faithful. There's no excuse to not see the world's most predictable geyser.  Not as impressive from far away but if you get out and walk the area, you surround yourself with Old Faithful and the others and it makes for an exciting experience.

Sunset & sunrise are amazing here. The way the sun kisses the water would make you think that gleam was diamonds floating through the water.

Animals can be found throughout at all times of day. During the hotter months the animals will migrate early morning. They will move throughout the day, which includes being on the road, namely bison. However you could run into a bear as well, black or grizzly.

Overall, we had a fantastic time staying and roaming around the park, seeing its glorious landscapes, valleys, water features, springs, geysers, and mud pots. Hands down, this is one of the most unique things you will ever see in your life.

We also enjoyed fantastic weather: low-mid 40s to mid 80s.  While I do wish we had visited pre-pandemic and been able to walk through or stay at one of their historic hotels or lodges. I'm sure that the number of people visiting Yellowstone was far less compared to previous years... which made for easier parking and less people to deal with.
