Visit The San Buenaventura City Pier

Monday, March 18, 2019
The sandy beach at Ventura Pier is the main central beach of Ventura, California. The San Buenaventura City Pier is an old structure on wooden pilings that attracts fishermen and tourists who visit the Ventura waterfront.  This is one of a  popular beach spot. No matter what time or day there's usually someone is surfing in the water below or  walking the pier from paved Ventura Promenade pathway to Surfers Point Park.

For access to Ventura Pier Beach from downtown just head toward the ocean on California Street and you’ll get to the pier. There is a large parking structure next to the Crown Plaza Ventura Beach Hotel just off Harbor Boulevard. Another option is the northern parking lot for San Buenaventura State Beach which is right behind the beach. Restaurants are available on the pier: bikes, beach chairs, and body boards are available for rent at the pier seven days a week in summer and on weekends in the winter month.

The pier is a great place to watch sunsets or really to walk at any time of the day.

This pier is the largest wooden pier on the California coast at a length of 1,958 feet (597 meters). In its current configuration, the pier is 1,600 feet (490 meters) long.

An afternoon stroll on the pier is a great way to unwind.

The view from the pier is  so tranquil on a quiet weekday.

Ventura's coastline is a spectacular sight.  Can't go wrong by investing a sunny California afternoon into this relaxing getaway.

  6. Great photos! That's a really long pier. I'm not sure we have anything that long in Florida, especially not a wood pier. Looks like it makes for a great visit.

    1. You are right I've been to Florida many times but I have not remember seeing a pier. I guess it is more common at the West Coast and the most famous is the Santa Monica Pier . Where thousand of local and tourist visit there to enjoy the park and beach.

  8. I think it's the longest Pier I've ever seen, but beautiful because it allows you to "dive" in the heart of the sea. What a nice place!

    1. Ventura is a small quaint town along California coastline. An hour and half outside the busy LA. We just move here a month ago and each day is like a vacation.
