Visit the Wormsloe State Historic Site

Saturday, December 15, 2018
Wormsloe Historic site is a popular attraction near Savannah, Georgia. Located only a few minutes drive outside of the city, if you are planning to go a couple of hours are good enough. Once you arrive take a scenic drive down the road of Spanish moss trees.  Both sides of the road are lined with trees which creates a beautiful canopy of trees beg the nature lover to venture further.

This stunning tree-lined drive contains 400 live oaks which were planted in the late 1800s. This is where parts of the movie Forrest Gump were filmed -- "run, Forrest, run!"

Wormsloe should be at the top of your list during a visit to Savannah.

This historic site is so beautiful that you’ll barely get through the gates before you have to stop and take a picture.

At the end of the road is the visitor center where you can watch short historical film, tour a museum, and browse a gift shop.  You can also grabbed a map and explored some of the trails that passes through a beautiful lake, and there is also a historic village and cabin that you can explore.

This is an absolutely stunning backdrop for photos. We stopped several times so that we could get out of the car and snap some pics, well worth the $10 entrance fee.

Travel Tips: Wear comfortable shoes, water, bug spray during summer months, snacks, and a camera as you'll find many opportunities to take interesting pictures.

Upon entering you’ll see two rows lined with huge live oaks with sweeping branches that create a spectacular mile-long archway over the road you’ll soon drive on.

I would definitely like to make a trip back to Savannah in the future. There are so many sights to see in Savannah that we didn't get around to.

Have you been to Savannah Georgia? What are your favorite sights to see? Please share below.
