Visit Sombrero Beach Marathon | Florida Keys

Monday, June 4, 2018
It's not every day you can drive to an island. Driving to Florida Keys is the perfect trip we've ever been. Here is one of my favorite beach at the Keys: The Sombrero Beach in Marathon, FL.  The Sombrero Beach is a stretch of public beach just off the Overseas Highway and has been developed to allow a range of activities to take place. Play beach games; go swimming, kayaking or snorkeling; and lounge in the sun at one of Marathon’s most visited beaches.

The atmosphere is very calm and  pleasant. The water is clean less seaweeds compare to Miami beach and there were no rocks or seashells on the ocean to hurt your foot. We enjoy relaxing in shady groves provided by the coconut palms that line the beach. It has a mixture of people here but the people that we encountered were very friendly both local and tourist  they were always willing to help and suggest other areas to go to.

Located at: Atlantic Side - Sombrero Beach Rd Marathon, FL 33052

This is by far the best beach that we've seen in the Florida Keys.
Welcome to Florida Keys!

Swimmers will love exploring the deeper water, where tropical fish and turtles swim around.  From April until October, Sombrero Beach is a nesting site for loggerhead turtles, and some areas of the beach are protected.

Florida Keys still recovering from the damage made by Hurricane Irma, you can tell by the trees how hard they got hit.

Bathroom nearby and free parking.  Really couldn't get any better than that.
Perfect spot to park our Jeep.

If you are looking for a place to watch the sunset and be romantic this is the place! So bring a blanket to throw on the sand snuggle up with your love one as you watch the sunset and take pictures either mental or digital it's all going to be the same experience and you will have an everlasting memory.

Hope you enjoy this beautiful  beach destination in Florida Keys. Feel free to share this post  and follow us for more adventures!

  1. I love the Keys, so I would love to go there. I've only ever driven through them on my way to Key West, so I would love to stop and explore some of the other keys.

  2. Being from Miami I've been to the Keys dozens of times. The beaches there are all dredged, but this one actually looks like a beautiful place I'll be visiting soon!

  10. Coming from an archipelago where I see beautiful beaches everywhere, I could really determine a nice beach from not. And I could say that the Key is a piece of paradise
