Shelling on Sanibel Island Florida

Monday, May 7, 2018
Thinking about your next vacation destination that is either relaxing or family friendly?  If you’re daydreaming about seaside sunning and likes to spend a quiet afternoon shell-collecting  the Sanibel Island in Florida is just your spot. It is connected to Fort Myers by the Sanibel Causeway Bridge. This Island has beautiful beaches, lots of high-rise hotels and condos, and a laid back atmosphere.

Why there's so many shells?

Sanibel Island coastlines run east and west, different than most islands which run north and south, this direction allows Sanibel Island to catch abundant sea shells.  The Gulf of Mexico scooping up all the seashells imported from the Caribbean and brings it to the shores.  Sanibel Island is world renowned for its shells. People from all over the world come to collect and admire the colorful "Treasures From the Sea".

Sea Shelling Tips:
  •   Bring a bucket, net bag and scoop, wear sunscreen  and hat.
  •   Anytime is a good time for shelling, but often, the early morning at low tide is best.
  •   It is illegal to take live shells,  please return them to the water.

You can see the Lighthouse from here.
This sand whale is so cute!

Keep Calm, enjoy the view and drive a Jeep ●|||||● ✋

    1. We always go to Florida at least ones or twice a year. Most of the time in panhandle where the beach has sugary sand and crystal clear water. This is the first time we went on the road trip going to Florida keys. Sanibel Island is one of our stop over. Glad we did because its a beautiful Island.

    1. We are not too close to any beach as either. Each year we always set a time off for a vacation just to go and relax at the beach. I have to tell this beaches in the far out South is way better than the ones in the North. I've learned the closer your were at Gulf Mexico the warmer and the beautiful sugary sand you will see.
