Big Adventures Small Budgets: See The World On A Shoestring

Thursday, May 24, 2018

For many folks travel to particular locations or in general is something that occurs time and time again on their bucket list. However, there is often a gap between where they desire to go and what their budget can stretch to. Happily, we are here to tell you that it is possible to have big adventures on a small budget. To that end, read on to find out some smart tactics that will allow you to see the world on a shoestring.

Shop the deals

First, savvy travelers always shop the deals and never pay full price for anything. In fact, there are several approaches to this tactic that can save you a fortune in travel costs.

The first is to look for last minute travel deals that allow you to visit the location of your choice in comfort but at a fraction of the price. Secondly, you can keep an eye on the flight and accommodation release dates throughout the year and swoop in when they are at their cheapest to get a good deal.

Lastly, you also have the option of using a comparison site. Although, you do need to be aware that when using these, it may be possible to save more if you book each leg of your trip and your accommodation separately.

Work and travel

Next, if you cannot justify the cost of leaving work and traveling around the world, why not take your work with you? Of course, we are talking about becoming a digital nomad here, and if the internet is anything to go by, there are thousands of people making this lifestyle work for them. For example, those who have something like one of the great xfinity internet plans at their fixed address can make use of hotspots all over the USA as a bonus feature, which could help them when they are working away from home.

The advantage of working while you are traveling is that you never have to run out of money, and you do not have to delay your career while you are away. There are plenty of guides online about this sort of lifestyle too, so be sure to do your research before you pack your bags and zipping off to your first location.

Study and travel

Of course, some folks are lucky enough to be given the opportunity to study abroad. This can be a particularly budget-friendly way of seeing the world for a few reasons.

Firstly, as a student your standard of living expectations are likely to be less extravagant, meaning you won't end up wasting money on flash hotels and resorts.

Also, many universities offer a year studying abroad as part of their courses. Something that means you have the support of a recognized institution which can help you find cheap accommodation, food, and even work if your visa allows it.

Keep the costs down

Lastly, there are some additional strategies to use to keep the cost down while seeing the world. Why not try a road trip with friends where you share the price of gas, and split meals?

Alternatively, why not volunteer for a charity program that is running overseas? Doing so means that you can visit exotic locations while doing some good, and you can ask for sponsorship for your trip so the entire cost shouldn't have to come out of your own personal budget.
