Visit Obed Wild and Scenic River National Park

Tuesday, April 17, 2018
Obed Wild and Scenic River is a unit of the National Park System.  Located just off of US27 in Wartburg, Tennessee. One of the best things about this park is that it is rarely crowded.  It was awesome to just be enjoying nature with no other people noise.  Great area to explore perfect for outdoor adventurists.

We stopped at the Visitor Center.  Pick up maps, talk to a ranger about available activities he gave us some suggestions of places to be sure to visit. Also we check out the shop in the National Park Bookstore and recreation exhibit.  We took a short walk because it is snowing that day.  But we would like to go back on summer and try some longer hikes, sightseeing and do picnic.

Historic Nemo Train Bridge

The abandoned Nemo is a walk or drive through train tunnels. Nemo is situated in the East Tennessee Mountains, on the north edge of the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area. This area is full of many different attractions, but it’s rare to come across train tunnels like these. There are actually two abandoned tunnels, which are both accessible to the general public to explore. When you’re looking for new adventures these tunnels are great for easy off-roading in East Tennessee and are a total step back in time.

Some of the trails follow the Obed River, which has plenty to see and explore as well. Once you make a stop at Catoosa Wildlife Management Area, you’ll want to come back to do some more exploring.

Having fun at Nemo Bridge with snow!

Be sure to share this post and follow us for more adventures like these.

  8. When we travel we go to all of the national parks in the area. I haven't been to this one yet, but that rock climbing sure has me intrigued. There's nothing like that around here.
