Driving Up Pikes Peak Mountain - US Road Trip

Tuesday, March 17, 2020
If you are in the Denver or Colorado Springs area, Pikes Peak is a must see. The view is breathtaking. If you drive to the top beware of the Highwinds and do not ride your brakes coming down the peak, you can overheat your breaks. It's a once in a lifetime view and experience.

Colorado has 54 mountains over 14,000 feet. One of them is in city of Colorado Springs Pikes Peak.  Pikes Peak stands at 14,110 feet high. It's a great place to visit with friends, family, and children, if you are not from a high altitude area, the change in altitude is very noticeable. Dress warm if you visit.

Words cannot explain the beauty and majesty of this place. I'm just in love with all of it from the snow cap to the mountain view.

Nature is just amazing. I can't even describe how beautiful it was. Pictures do no justice to the true beauty of this place.

The tourist center on the top was fun.

Bigfoot statue outside the Pikes Peak tourist center.

Everyone should experience this place at least once. If I can give a little tip: the altitude is pretty high and the air is really thin. Make sure you drink plenty of water to help with altitude sickness. Also bring a hoodie with you. We were there in May and it was probably around 30-40 degrees up that high. Just simply amazing though, don't pass this one up.

    1. I'm catching my breath due to change of altitude as you go up high. My husband who happen to be an experience driver for once get scared of the road with no guard rails but of course he didn't tell during our trip or else I will be worried. He said he hold his sneeze and yawn all hrs of driving :) it was a great trip.

  27. The majestic beauty of the Colorado rockies are undeniable. A few ago, we hiked up two 14,000 ft high mountains and loved the experience. The views and the incredible beauty continue to be one of my favorite experiences. You are right, dress in layers as the temperatures change quickly. Great pics.
