Coal Creek Off-Road Trip

East Tennessee is truly beautiful. Its home for the most spectacular scenery I have seen, yet. Mountain sized rock faces brightly colored orange, red, and beige tower all around us.  On a sunny day weekend we decided to go off-road and test our Jeep for the first time in the Trail.  We head up to Coal Creek /Windrock Park Mountain located in Oliver Springs. They have over 160 plus miles of different trails for all types of vehicles and adrenaline levels. They marked with a trail number, degree of difficulty and vehicles allowed on the trail. Trails range from gravel roads to extreme mountainous terrain.  We took the easy trails include gravel roads and hard packed clay trails with few if any challenges. We had so much fun doing it, and planning to do it again.

One important thing to do before going off-road is to make sure that your vehicle is safe and you should know your vehicle inside and out. It is always a good thing to never exceed the limits of your vehicle. Having a spare tire and jack is always a must because you never know when these things might be needed. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Another safety method is to know how to use the controls on your 4×4 system and know how the system works. Once you are comfortable by knowing your 4×4 wheel and how it operates, then you lower the risk of having an accident.

  2. Hi There, I hope you love Tennessee like we do... If you haven't done so yet, visit the Smokies (Elkmont, Cades Cove, Tremont, Rich Mountain Rd, Parson's Branch Rd, Wears Valley, etc.)....

We don't have a 4-wheel drive so there are many back roads which we cannot go on. BUT---we've done our share of pretty good BACK roads!!!!

    Welcome to Tennessee....
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  4. Beautiful scenery! I've never owned a vehicle that could go off road-but those safety precautions sound VERY important to me--would think that perhaps a GPS in your vehicle might be a good idea just in case so if you are really in trouble they can locate your vehicle more easily!
