Visit the Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga Tennessee

The Walnut Street Bridge is an old railroad bridge that has been refurbished into a pedestrian bridge.  It was built in 1890 that measure 2,376 feet long, this is one of the "Longest Pedestrian Bridges in the World".  It connects Chattanooga's revitalized downtown with the now-thriving North Shore district across the Tennessee River.  The views from the bridge of both shores and the river itself are simply beautiful and cannot easily be described -- you'll just have to see it for yourself!

What's cool about the Walnut Street Bridge is its design which incorporates many iron trusses that form perfectly symmetrical triangles all around.  The trusses were painted in light blue.   The floor of the bridge is covered with wooden planks giving it a boardwalk feel.  The bridge is wide and  spacious a great way to get exercise, see awesome views, and enjoy Chattanooga.

This bridge is a great way to cross Tennessee River by foot or bike.

Lookout Mountain Attractions - Battles for Chattanooga

There are so many things to do in Chattanooga, and hiking at Point Park is one of them.  This Park offers the most stunning view of downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River.  Officially known as Lookout Mountain Battlefield. Point Park is part of the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park.  It was a beautiful park, full of history that renewed my interest in the Civil War.

You have to pay admission the $5 per person admission is good for 7 days, so if you're here for a weekend or a week you don't have to pay every time you visit.

Visit Lookout Mountain Georgia

My husband and I loves traveling to Gatlinburg, TN and everyone we talked to said we just had to take a detour to Chattanooga (or Lookout Mountain) and we did. We really enjoyed  the walking trails and seeing the beautiful scenery. The trails, gardens, waterfall, and natural structures were amazing. We spend the whole day in hiking. When we reach the top, there is an observation deck for more great views. Follow the park around and you will see the other side of the mountain views, just beautiful. I loved that they've kept the mountain so clean and accessible.

Lover's Leap at Lookout Mountain Georgia . According to folklore, a young Indian couple fell in love but could not be together because they belonged to tribes that were at war with each other. They leap to their deaths from this ledge in despair. A very sad story for this beautiful scenery.

Rock City Gardens | Chattanooga's Iconic Attraction

Now I know where all those See Rock City birdhouses come from! We visited Rock City for the first time. This is an attraction taking advantage of nature's rock formations and adding landscaping, stone bridge and walking paths.  This is a self guided walking tour of some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. You enter The Enchanted Trail passing beautiful gardens with an array of seasonal flowers and trees. The stone artworks (massive formations) includes a garden of piled up pebbles, a rock shaped like a mushroom, and statues along the way. The music as you go along the trail is very relaxing too. If you like lookout points, valleys, and waterfalls, you should probably see Rock City.

Visit Ruby Falls Chattanooga Attractions

We love this place, Ruby Falls is magical. The history of this place is pretty amazing. If you are claustrophobic this is not your thing. The tour takes an hour. The elevator takes you down 260 feet where a tour guide takes you to the tallest underground water fall in country. People going to and returning from the waterfall made use of the same pathway and this often required the incoming group to stand tight against the cave wall to one side while the outgoing group passed by. As the result, it could become somewhat personal, people often brushed against each other. However, the guide did a great job of keeping us in a joyful mood and the tight squeeze was not of concern.  This was a long walk, but nice to see the inside of an actual cavern.

After descending up to 1000 feet, our group was pass through an underground labyrinth filled with colorful stalactites and stalagmites. We witness underground rivers and rock outcroppings that  amazes us. At the end of our adventure through the rock, my breath takes away by the beauty of Ruby Falls. This is a sight that I will never forget. The waterfall is magnificent, this makes visiting well worth the time.
