Family Kayaking Adventure : Melton Lake Park

Tuesday, September 19, 2017
Over the past 10 years of my life, many things have changed, including  friends, lifestyle, status and jobs. With everything constantly changing around me, there is one thing that has always stayed the same "My Family".

When I think about my happiest moments in life, a big part of it is my family.  My relationship with my parents and siblings is something that I learn to treasure more  and more each day despite of distance. Now that my sister is in town with her family for vacation. It’s time to get everyone to family kayaking! Kayaking with the whole family is a great way to spend a  weekend.

The family that works out together, stays forever!

Take a break from gadgets and internet

Everyday we spend so much time browsing the internet and playing gadgets. Sometimes it’s best to disconnect to modern world and get back to nature. The Adventures Outdoors at Melton Lake Park in Oak Ridge, TN is a kayaking and sup board mecca. The flat water is perfect for beginners and professionals alike.

If you love the water, kayaking is best way to experience it.  You’re about a foot above the water as you paddle, taking in the sights and sighing as the cool breeze hits your face.

Great family bonding

Kayaking is enjoyable and  quite challenging.  Each of your family member will have close bond through adventure, relaxation, and stress-free enjoyment. Of course,  not to mention the great stories you'll all have to share together later.

Get Fit while having fun

You and your family are getting much needed exercise while having fun .  A family that works out together stays together.  So why not enjoy the outdoors and have a blast while doing it?

My brother-in-law (Eduard) and my sister (Milyn) on a two person tandem Kayak.

My dad (Oscar) and nephew (Cole) -- Go Yellow Team! 😁

How about you, what types of kayaking activities will you participate in most of the time?   Will you paddle alone or with family and friends?

  1. This is such a gorgeous lake. I don't think I've ever been kayaking. I need to try it out someday. I'd probably prefer to paddle alone. I imagine my family would tip us over.

  3. I used to love kayaking, though I was never that good at it. I used to love going alone in the kayak but with friends in a group, I could never get into the rhythm of doing it with two.

  5. I know a few people that go kayaking fairly regularly and they love it. I went canoeing years ago and it proved I have no balance whatsoever.

  7. I am not a fan of being on water since I can not swim but I do love Kayaking and try and take part whenever I go that they offer it.

  8. I've always wanted to go kayaking, that lake looks beautiful, I went canoeing once when I was younger but not sure how that differs from kayaking!

  9. Oh I love kayaking. When I lived in DC, once the weather was warm, I went every Saturday morning. It was so peaceful!

  10. I can't wait for my boys to be old enough to kayak along side us. My husband and I love to be on the water, except for that one time we found a thousand ants attacking our legs while we were kayaking--it was a nightmare and we definitely capsized!

  15. I agree that turning off phones or gadgets, ignoring your to-do list and enjoying you family is soooo important! This summer we went river rafting and it was so much fun. Kayaking is next on our list to do now that my kids are older, we can really start doing all of this fun stuff!
