Visit The Best South Beach in Georgia

Friday, July 22, 2016
As a beach-side retreat, South Beach Georgia brings together old and new feel – cozy cottages and upscale condos. Precisely that soft grayish sand, Atlantic shoreline, modest history and seaside playground  makes South beaches a celebrated family vacation destination.

Tybee Island

Just 30 minutes away from historic downtown Savannah, Tybee Island is not overly touristy or crowded. Deep clean water, soft sand, rolling waves, friendly locals and eye-catching attractions make for the perfect getaway.

Escape the busy  and fast paced everyday life in a place like Tybee Island where time slows down, a  place where the biggest decisions of the day are deciding where to eat for dinner and where to set up the beach chairs. A great swimming, sunbathing and fun shelling.

Saint Simon's Island

Surrounded by expansive beaches, moss-draped oaks, and salt marshes, Saint Simon's Island is part of the Golden Isles chain near Brunswick nearly 18 square mile island.

It is a recreation wonderland with superb championship golf courses, miles of bicycle paths, great fishing, historic sites, and excellent restaurants. If you love golf, you’ll love Saint Simon's Island.  You can also fish off the St. Simon's Island Pier and surf cast on stretches of beach on the island’s north end. For such a compact island, Saint Simon's is brimming with historic sites. Don’t miss the Saint Simon's Lighthouse, where you can climb the 129 steps for a magnificent view of the island.

  1. Ah no place like the beach. I'm a South Beach Miami native, so when I saw South Beach I got excited. Very cool to see there's one in neighboring Georgia, albeit a bit calmer and quieter. ;)

  2. I have been dying to go to Savannah! We visit a friend every year in Atlanta and always say we're going to make our way there...but we never do! I need to keep this place in mind for when we finally get there!

  5. Wow! St. Simon's Island looks like my kind of place! Being from New England, I've always loved lighthouses. If I still lived stateside, I might consider St. Simon's for a weekend getaway, but alas, it's too much of trek from the other side of the Atlantic. *sigh*

  7. This is a destination I have been dying to go for a few years now. They were at TBEX one year and they caught my interest then. I will bump it up my list after reading this. Maybe time for me to consider making this happen. Looks beautiful. You have several great options on this blog for road trips!
