Visit Fontana Dam at North Carolina

Monday, August 6, 2018
Located in the far western corner of North Carolina, Fontana Dam is the tallest dam east of the Rockies . It was built in 1940s by the Tennessee Valley Authority in response to an urgent need for electric power during World War II.  This dam is surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala National Forest, and deep river gorges. Fontana ranks among the most beautiful dams in the world.  In addition to providing hydroelectric power and flood control for the region, the lake created behind the dam on the Little Tennessee River is a popular site for many kinds of outdoor recreation.

Family Kayaking Adventure : Melton Lake Park

Tuesday, September 19, 2017
Over the past 10 years of my life, many things have changed, including  friends, lifestyle, status and jobs. With everything constantly changing around me, there is one thing that has always stayed the same "My Family".

When I think about my happiest moments in life, a big part of it is my family.  My relationship with my parents and siblings is something that I learn to treasure more  and more each day despite of distance. Now that my sister is in town with her family for vacation. It’s time to get everyone to family kayaking! Kayaking with the whole family is a great way to spend a  weekend.

The family that works out together, stays forever!

Take a Cruise at Loboc River Philippines

Friday, February 5, 2016
On arrival at our hotel in Panglao Islands, Bohol Philippines we were introduced to a local guide whom we hired for the day to show us around the sights of Bohol. One attraction he recommended was the River Cruise from Loboc in the south of Bohol Island. Loboc River is one of top destinations in the island province of Bohol, aside from the Chocolate Hills and its Tarsiers. The town of Loboc  is about 30 minutes ride from the city of Tagbilaran where the Tagbilaran Airport is located.

The ride was so refreshing and the view is breathtaking. The "eat all you can" buffet had a fair selection of Filipino food, although the quality was not exceptional. The length of time of travel  is ok and the weather was perfect. Through the river it stopped at a floating hut where you watch a group of kids playing their guitars for us, singing and dancing. I found them entertaining and reflecting the people and the culture there. My husband and I  really enjoyed that part!

The river and surrounding beautiful tropical rain forest scenery.

Kayaking on Melton Hill Lake

Monday, July 20, 2015
Hiking together provides a wonderful time for us to talk, be together, and get fit.  In my head, kayaking would provide the same.  So far, I was wrong.  Going on a Tandem Kayak was a challenge we paddle differently (don't judge we both first timer) . I sit at the front , while my husband is in the back trying to  give me a lesson the right way to paddle. It rained that day we can't hear each other and I am too scared that I might flip over the kayak if I look back. This was not what I was expecting.  It reminded me of toddlers who get together for playdates, yet they play next to each other and not with each other.  We need to figure this out for future trips. But overall we had a great time in the end, my arms were quite sore;  his not so much.  This experience definitely left us wanting for more.

If you get a chance to visit our beautiful City of Oak Ridge. Adventures Outdoors is open for business on Houseboat Row at Melton Lake Park!  Bikes, trikkes, and kayaks are available for rent Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-8pm each week.  Call 865-680-1516 for more information.

Our challenging journey begins from here!
Kayak rental rates: – $10/hour or $25 half day rental – 2 person kayak $15/hour or $25 half day rental Bike rental rates: – $6/hour, $15 half day, or $25 full day rental Trikke rental rates: – $10/hour, $15 half day, or $25 full day rental.

Jeep Ride from New York  to Tennessee

February 2012 we took a road trip from New York all the way to the South. So far that was the longest drive we ever try. It was fun though, seeing those different scenery each border state is fascinating. No dull moment for us, although eventually I can feel this butt cramps (excuse me lol). We change our route from Buffalo to Oak Ridge. We once told that the road view in Virginia is way more interesting than the other way which is Ohio. So we take their advice. While were on our way to Pittsburgh we get stock to traffic  for like few minutes due to bad weather. Besides from that our trip came out smoothly and full of good memories. We are once told that the trees are more gorgeous when the leaves are full grown. Which we have to wait till spring time, as for me the parks, lakes, the small city and the people are proof enough that this place is truly a good place to live in. I can see myself living here for years and yet still gloriously amaze on the environment. Can't compare at all I really hope that me and my husband would not have a hard time in a big transition of living here. We are positive that God will provide all we need to make this life worth living.
